Neotemnopteryx fulva

Blattodea
Ectobiidae  : Blattellinae  : Parcoblattini

This golden cockroach, a native of Australia, seems only now to be spreading rapidly out of Auckland where it first found some 40 years ago. It is now in the Waikato and Tauranga. It is an active runner and unlike most other cockroaches in New Zealand it has fully developed wings and is an active flier. In Tauranga it was first noted in swimming pools where adults had drowned, presumably being attracted by nearby lights on a warm evening. Another species which could potentially be a serious pest in agricultural and horticultural exports.
