A widespread species of the South Island especially in the lowland forests of Nelson, Banks Peninsula, coastal Otago and Stewart Island. Appears to be absent from the wet forests of Westland. It egg cases are usually found under the papery bark of tree fuchsia. It has short wings and is incapable of flight.
