species do not cross the Great Alpine fault and three species that do lie only to the west and north form a relatively close group: Megadromus vigil
, Megadromus speciosus
, Megadromus turgidiceps
and this species. It is found in the dense forests of northern Westland and northwest Nelson and is predominantly associated with Nothofagus
. Nothing is known about its biology as it is seldom found.
