The members of the tribe Pamborini are found only in coastal New South Wales and Queensland, and one species in New Zealand. They all have this characteristic shape with a small head that is rather elongated in front of the eyes, and broad, flat jaws. They appear to be snail predators. The New Zealand species is rare and very isolated populations have been found in Waipoua Kauri forest and nearby, the Hunua Ranges and in north Taranaki.
