Although this species is common in the dry
Nothofagus solandri forest along the southern shores of Lake Ohau it is not present (so far) in the small patch of forest where
Holcaspis bessatica and
Holcaspis bathanae lie. However, as with the
Megadromus omaramae-
Megadromus sternalis pair at the same adjacent sites
Holcaspis ohauensis is present the open habitat surrounding the forest.
