This species from Western Australia was caught in Auckland in 1972 but was not recognised until 1999. Although it is probably present throughout Northland down to Auckland city, it is yet to be confirmed in areas further south. It has similar colouration to the native
Celatoblatta cockroaches, especially
Celatoblatta sedilloti of the North Island but lacks their spottiness of the paler colours. Note also the distinct notch in the suranal plate (arrowed) of the female. That of
Celatoblatta females is always gently rounded.
