Arthurdendyus australis

Turbellaria
Geoplanidae  : Coenoplaninae

A greyish-brown species with an unspotted, greyish pale-yellow margin and venter. It lives in the south of the South Island and is not very tolerant of disturbed habitats though it does live in urban situations if the gardens are neglected. See also comment under Arthurdendyus latissimus. The green squares represent the distribution of an undescribed species that looks much like A. australis but which has a very different venter. It has two distict brown stripes along it. The distribution pattern is rather odd in that no intervening populations have been found. Perhaps the two populations are actually different new species?
