A species apparently confined to islands in the Marlborough Sounds

One of the more restricted species of darkling beetle. It is found within the Mackenzie Basin and some nearby regions.

This species appears to be a local endemic in North Canterbury Found in dry forest and old "grey scrub" of relatively undisturbed areas along watercourses on hillsides.

This darkling beetle is rare and considered endangered.

The Central Otago darkling beetle. Common from Alexandra to Tekapo.
